Thoughts on Pixies
I actually really enjoyed Pixies. I’ve been meaning to listen to them long before I ever started this blog. I mean, everyone has heard ‘Where is My Mind?’, but it was nice to finally sit down and give an actual album a listen.
This album was recommended to me by pretty much everyone I know who likes Pixies as the album to start with and I really liked it. Is it okay to say there were moments when I was reminded of Pavement? Especially in ‘Hey’ which ended up being one of my favourite tracks. I mean, I like Pavement anyway so I make the comparison as a compliment.
Also can I just say Kim Deal is an amazing bassist? Just wow.
Altogether I really loved it and I’d love to check out more of their stuff. I’ve heard Surfer Rosa is the next album to go to…

Thoughts on Talking Heads
I have to be honest when I say that I didn’t expect to like Talking Heads, mostly because when I first heard more than just “Burning Down the House” when I was in high school, I really didn’t care for it. But that was also a time before I listened to Radiohead and other good music, so it’s also not much of a surprise that I really loved Talking Heads when I gave them a solid try.
I liked them so much, in fact, that I gave Talking Heads: 77 a listen and was also really pleased with that. Both albums were great. There’s just something about the whole band’s sound that really meshes and I really like David Byrne’s voice. God knows what sort of reactions I’ll get for saying this, but there are moments when Talking Heads come off as a sort of cheerful Joy Division. It seems like an oxymoron and I think the comparison is solely in my head, but it’s there anyway.
The point is, I really liked Talking Heads and I will definitely be checking out the rest of their discography in the future.
